Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-16. Version: draft 0.1. Applies to all use of SPUR Compute by customers and hosts. Breach is grounds for immediate suspension.
1. Things you must not do on SPUR Compute
The following uses are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate suspension and reporting to authorities where required:
- Generating, distributing, or storing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
- Training, fine-tuning, or running models intended to produce CSAM, non-consensual intimate imagery, or sexualized content of identifiable real persons without consent.
- Operating any system designed to enable terrorism, mass-casualty weapons, or serious physical harm to humans.
- Distributing malware, ransomware, command-and-control infrastructure, or running offensive cyber-operations against parties that have not given written authorization.
- Sending unsolicited commercial messaging at any scale (email, SMS, voice, social-media spam).
- Running cryptocurrency mining workloads on standard tiers. Exceptions require an explicit Mining Addendum.
- Hosting illegal content under the law of Canada or the country where the SPUR-owned compute resides.
- Violating export controls (Canadian, US, EU) by enabling restricted parties to access sanctioned technology.
- Attempting to access other customers' containers, the host machine outside your container, or SPUR's control plane.
2. Things you must do
- Operate within the resource limits of your reservation. Sustained 100% utilisation is allowed; deliberately exceeding allocated VRAM, vCPU, or disk is not.
- Respond promptly to SPUR security or abuse notices.
- Protect the credentials we issue you (API keys, SSH keys, account passwords).
- Honour all third-party licences on any model, dataset, or code you load onto SPUR.
3. Permitted with conditions
- Red-team + offensive security research - permitted if you have explicit written authorization from the target organization and the workload remains within SPUR Compute (i.e. not used to attack the public internet).
- Adult content generation - permitted for fictional content where no real identifiable person is depicted, subject to applicable law. CSAM, non-consensual content, and impersonation of identifiable real persons are absolutely prohibited (section 1).
- Bulk web crawling - permitted if you respect robots.txt, rate limits, and the target's terms of service.
- Mining - cryptocurrency mining requires explicit advance authorization. SPUR Token validator operation is permitted on dedicated tiers.
4. Enforcement
SPUR investigates abuse reports promptly. We may inspect container metadata, network flow records, and billing logs to determine breach. We do not inspect container contents except where required by court order or where serious harm appears imminent.
Confirmed breaches result in: warning (first-time minor), suspension (most cases), permanent ban + funds forfeiture (severe cases or repeat). Section 1 breaches always result in permanent ban and reporting to law enforcement where required.
5. Reporting abuse
If you see something on SPUR Compute that violates this AUP, email abuse@spuric.com with as much detail as you have. We respond within 24 hours to all credible reports.
